Feb. 9, 2012, NEW YORK: Nicholas K‘s Fall 2012 runway show started off New York Fashion week at 9:00 am, located at the Studio.
The show began with a dark urban cowboy theme, with models decked out in native jewelry (designer: Jewelry by Matt) and cowboy/ hats. The dominant color scheme surrounded a neutral palette of black, gray and brown.
Many outfits included loose draping, layering and fringe, and more importantly, everything seemed very wearable.
To my excitement, models wore a very dark maroon/brown lipstick, which is very encouraging to me because I just may be able to wear my beautiful YSL burgandy lipstick once again, come fall.
My favorites from the show:
The master minds of Nicholas K are brother and sister Chris & Nicole Kurtz. The line launched in 2003, and immediately consisted of many elements of their current, natural signature style. Additionally, in the fall of 2006, Nicholas K successfully launched a menswear line.
Nicholas K was conceptualized with the intent of providing sophisticated customers with modern classics to become wardrobe staples.
Cofounder and creative director, Nicholas L Kunz attended FIT in New York and the Polimoda School of Design, in Florence. Before starting her own line, she worked at acclaimed fashion lines such as DKNY and Coach.
The corporate operations of Nicholas K are overseen by cofounder Christopher L Kunz, who graduated with an MBA from the Eller Graduate School of Management in Marketing and Finance, and with a BS majoring in both Biochemistry and Molecular Cellular Biology. He, too, has worked with fashion companies like Ralph Lauren.
