It’s weird. Whenever I’m lost, my words help me find my way.
“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines, sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.”
– Mark Twain
“A woman who wants to dress with a certain amount of drama, but in a breezy way… She is happy whether she is in a structured Giambattista Valli suit or a wild Philip Treacy fascinator. She’s comfortable enough with herself to a make a mistake. You’ll never hit a home run if you are unwilling to strike out.”
“I’ve got two daughters who will have to make their way in this skinny-obsessed world, and it worries me, because I don’t want them to be empty-headed, self-obsessed, emaciated clones; I’d rather they were independent, interesting, idealistic, kind, opinionated, original, funny – a thousand things, before ‘thin’. And frankly, I’d rather they didn’t give a gust of stinking chihuahua flatulence whether the woman standing next to them has fleshier knees than they do. Let my girls be Hermiones, rather than Pansy Parkinsons. Let them never be Stupid Girls.”
– JK Rowling
“‘What’ and ‘if’ are two words as non-threatening as words can be, but put them together side by side and they have the power to haunt you for the rest of your life.”
“I surround myself with people who support my growth; if you meet someone whose soul is not aligned with yours, send them love and move along.”
“Babe, by the time you have kids and they’re in school and all that, no one will probably care about you, let’s be honest.”
Kris Humphries (To Kim Kardashian)
“If you aren’t going be kind, be quiet.”
Style doesn’t depend on fashion. People who have style can accept or ignore fashion. For them fashion is not something to follow but rather to develop, something that they can choose or entirely ignore. Style is spontaneous, a divine gift and it is best bestowed upon just a few.
“It’s no accident, I think, that tennis uses the language of life. Advantage, service, fault, break, love, the basic elements of tennis are those of everyday existence, because every match is a life in miniature. Even the structure of tennis, the way pieces fit inside one another…..mimics the structure of our days. Points become games become sets become tournaments, and it’s all so tightly connected that any point can become the turning point. It reminds me of the way seconds become minutes become hours, and any hour can be our finest. Or darkest. It’s our choice.”
– Andre Agassi from his autobiography, OPEN.
Falling out of love for the first time is as surprising as falling in love. It’s even similar: there’s a bewilderment at the heart’s revolutions, and a sense of finally understanding what people have been talking about. Only instead of feeling you’ve been granted a superpower, you feel like it has been taken away.
“I’ll always strive to be a better person, so that possibly, one day, I might be good enough for him, because, to me? He’s perfect.”
“Someone who recognizes that there are two completely different sides to Brooke Davis… Both of which, are amazing.”
“Unless it’s mad, passionate, extroadinary love, it’s a waste of your time. There are too many mediocre things in life and love should never be one of them.”
I come in here and sit in silence and hear the echoes of who we used to be. And so, I wish for patience and grace, and the strength to just let him be happy. But mostly, I pray for the strength to not make his life worse because of what I want. That’s the toughest part, you know? Letting go. That’s the part of grace that really sucks.
– Peyton Sawyer
“Wherever you go, no matter what the weather, always bring your own sunshine. It makes the brightest difference in the world.”
“Make a wish and place it in your heart. Anything you want, everything you want. Do you have it? Good. Now believe it can come true.
You never know where the next miracle is gonna come from, the next smile, the next wish come true, but if you believe that it’s right around the corner, and open your heart and mind to the possibility of it, to the certainty of it… You just might get the thing you’re wishing for.
The world is full of magic. You just have to believe in it. So make your wish. Do you have it? Good. Now believe in it. With all your heart.”
It took a few years to be comfortable in my own skin… and just like everyone else, I still struggle with it at times. So knowing my inner strength and worth gives me the freedom to be who I am and realize, “I’m not always going to fit in with everyone.” But it’s like music or any type of art, if it makes you feel genuine and complete, IT’S ALWAYS WORTH THE RISK.
