To promote their blockbuster hit, Snow White & The Huntsmen, Charlize Theron & Kristen Stewart appeared in the June/July issue of Interview Magazine.
Stewart commented on the difficulty of portraying such a strong, female character in the movie, in the sense of hope and power Snow White gives to her people. “The tricky thing is that you can’t have Snow White’s effect on people. I can’t have this supernatural light that sort of instantly affects those around me. There were things that I needed to believe, even though it was hard at times. But I did because the fantasy part of it was written well. You know how you meet people in life sometimes where you go, “Wow, you’ve got this energy . . .” This is just sort of a heightened version of that.” (Interview Magazine)
Theron, on the other hand, wanted to connect to her dark character, Ravenna. Preferring the characters that the audiences don’t care for, she wanted the audience to relate to the character, and not just think of her as “The Evil Queen”. “I don’t know who said it, but it really kind of hit me hard in the stomach,” Theron says discussing the development to her character, ‘The only difference between all of us is that some of us were loved and some of us weren’t.’ And that’s really kind of just breaking it down to the most bare-bones idea. Our mechanics are engineered so that we can survive quite a lot, but I think our need to be loved is so great that it’s the thing that damages us the most.” (Interview Magazine)
Mikael Jansson showcases the two actresses in a beautiful photo shoot depicting the dark-vibe of the movie. With rich colors and fierce poses between each actress, the entire spread results with intensely glamorous photographs.
